MOTHERLODE "what does it take" CANADIAN NORTHERN SOUL 1969
WHAT DOES IT TAKE (to win your love"on REVOLVER RECORDSMotherlode had undergone five different lineups since forming in 1969 in Toronto, Canada. The original (1969) version comprised of Ken Marco (guitar), Steve Kennedy (tenor sax, harmonica), William "Smitty" Smith (keyboards), and Wayne "Stoney" Stone (drums), with backing vocals by the talented African Canadian vocalist, Dianne Brooks. Together they released two fine soul 45's on the fledging Canadian Revolver label in 1969. Dianne Brooks who a few years earlier had toured as the featured vocalist with the Count Basie orchestra, contributed a song, "Memories Of A Broken Promise" and some background vocals to Motherlode's "When I Die" album
