"prospect to be a known champion" is some bullshit term you've just invented. In boxing parlance, that doesn't even exist. How do you know that's what Lampley really meant when he just said "This is some prospect..." You're either a mere prospect showing promise that you may become somebody in the future but you still got a lot to prove and still have to go through the ranks, OR you're already a contender making noise and gunning for the elite like Pac was at the time. Learn up boy.

I agree with leipogue, there are a lot of title holder like fanah tokuyama etc yet no one consider them as champion they are just title holders. barrera morales pac and marquez is in a different league compare to sotto guzman and valero. thats the difference between a champ and a belt holder.

He was no longer a prospect at that stage. He was ready to be lined up and be a contender at the elite level 1 division higher and was a 2-division world champ. One of the commentators mentioned he already dominated 122. Hahaha... a "prospect" dominating 122, imagine that. No, you can't be still labeled a prospect with those credentials so simion11 was right and it's you who's got some learning to do.
